Sparks Marina Dog Park to be Closed During Upcoming US Open of Watercross Event
For Immediate Release
Sparks, NV – Safety measures call for portions of the Sparks Marina Park to be closed during the US Open of Watercross event, which takes place on Sunday, July 1, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. During the racing, watercraft can top speeds of more than 80 miles per hour, necessitating some partial and temporary closures of the marina.
The dog park located on the south side of the Sparks Marina will be closed to the public on Sunday, July 1, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Additionally, use of paddling or sailing crafts will be restricted to the north side of the lake, close to the swim beach, during the racing portion of the event.
The event has expanded this year to include Hydroflight demonstrations and stand-up paddle board racing on Saturday, June 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The dog park will be open during this portion of the event.
About the Sparks Marina Park located at 300 Howard Drive:
The Sparks Marina Lake is continuously recharged with fresh filtered water from an underground aquifer. This process is similar to an artesian well and produces a water quality that exceeds standards set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for recreational use. The lake is monitored regularly to ensure excellent water quality.
