Sparks Hometowne Christmas Parade Nominated as Top 10 Best Holiday Parade in Nation
Voting for the top spot continues through December 10

The Sparks Hometowne Christmas has been nominated in USA Today’s 2018 10Best Readers’ Choice travel awards! The contest, which is being promoted by USA TODAY, gives voters four weeks to vote for the candidate of their choice at https://www.10best.com/awards/travel/best-holiday-parade/.

“This is an exciting honor for us,” said City of Sparks Special Event Supervisor Francine Burge. “We would obviously love to win and are asking as many people as possible to vote for our Sparks Hometowne Christmas parade.”

People can vote once a day through Monday, December 10th.  Winners will be announced on December 21.

The City of Sparks’ Hometowne Christmas parade weekend is scheduled for Friday, November 30 starting with the annual tree lighting ceremony and ending with the Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 1.

The annual tree lighting ceremony will be held on Friday evening, the night before the parade, from 6:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. next to the large gazebo on the corner of Victorian Avenue and Victorian Plaza Circle.

Schedule of Events

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 6:30 – 7:00 p.m.

  • Tree Lighting Ceremony
  • Complimentary cookies and hot chocolate from Living Stones Church
  • Music by Colin Ross Band


Ugly Sweater Run at Scheels/Marina: 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Parade Day Activities: 10:30 a.m.  – 4:00 p.m.

Santa in Sparks Heritage Museum, presented by Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows (10:30 a.m.  – 12:30 p.m. and 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.)

Sparks Hometowne Christmas Parade: 1:00 – 2:30 p.m.
