Holiday with a Hero Shopping Event
City of Sparks Police and Sparks Fire to take at-risk Washoe County Youth Christmas Shopping

What: Holiday with a Hero Shopping Event

Who: Sparks Police and Sparks Fire officials will take at-risk Washoe County youth holiday shopping

When: Wednesday, December 11, 2019 – 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Where: Target at the Outlets at Sparks, 1550 E. Lincoln Way, Sparks, NV

The Sparks Fire Department and Sparks Police have teamed up this year to participate in Holiday with a Hero, a program helping to make the holidays brighter for local at-risk youth. Through generous donations from the Sparks Firefighters’ Association, the Sparks Police Protective Association, the Nugget Casino Resort and local citizens, more than $6000 has been raised in support of this event.

On December 11th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. 60 local children, selected by the Washoe County Human Services Agency, will participate in a special shopping experience at Target in Sparks. Escorted by one of our local heroes, these children will be able to select items from the store to purchase with the funds raised by Holiday with a Hero. Volunteers will help the children shop and Sparky, the Sparks Fire Department fire dog, will attend. This event is not open to the public.

For interviews and additional information, please contact Sparks Assistant Fire Marshal Chris McCubbins at (775) 527-3715 or Officer Damon O’Connell, Sparks Police at (775) 842-6226.

Filming of the participating children is restricted to their backs, legs and feet. The children’s faces may not appear on camera.
