City of Sparks Announces the Winners of the 2019 Christmas Parade

Sparks, NV – The city of Sparks has announced the winners of this year’s Sparks Hometowne Christmas Parade held on December 7. Thousands of people and 81 entries packed into the staging areas off Pyramid and Victorian and braved the winter weather to participate in the award-winning parade that was attended by an estimated 10,000 people.

During the parade, each parade entrant was judged for theme – Christmas Around the World – plus originality, personality and presentation. The judging categories were: Best Over-all, Business, Vehicle Group, Animals Group, Community Group, Costumed Group, Marching Band, and Float.

2019 Winners:

  • Best Float: City Council Float, courtesy of Community Services Department
  • Best Business: M.V.P. Ritmo Performing Arts Dance Studio
  • Best Vehicle: Thompson Garage Doors
  • Best Costume Group: Creative Sparks Performing Arts
  • Best Animal Group: Sit Means Sit Dog Training
  • Best Community Group: Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada
  • Best Marching Band: Mayor’s Own Marching Bands
  • Best Overall: Chase International Real Estate

The Sparks Hometowne Christmas was once again nominated in USA Today’s 2019 10Best Readers’ Choice travel awards! The contest, promoted by USA TODAY, gave voters four weeks to vote for the candidate of their choice. The Hometowne Christmas Parade took 6th place in the national award.

The winners will be recognized at a January City Council meeting.
