JUNIOR LIFEGUARDING BEGINS

Our Junior Lifeguarding program has a strong focus on developing swimming skills to help participants meet the Lifeguarding Training course prerequisite. The course also introduces participants to lifesaving skills, such as in-water rescues, use of a rescue tube, and first aid, CPR and AED.

COST: $58 / $48 Resident Discount
NOTE: MUST BE ABLE TO COMPLETE SWIMMING PREREQUISPITES:
• Swim front crawl for 25 yards continuously, breathing to the front or side.
• Swim breaststroke for 25 yards continuously using the pull, breathe, kick and glide sequence.
• Tread water for 1 minute using their arms and legs.
• Show a level of comfort on the back by floating on the back for 30 seconds or swimming on the back for 25 yards using the elementary back stroke or back crawl.
• Submerge feet-first or head-first and swim under water a distance of 10 feet.
This course will teach water safety and introduce participants to the duties and responsibilities of a lifeguard; however, this course will not certify anyone to be a lifeguard or in CPR. It will build a foundation of knowledge, attitudes and skills in preparation for the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course.
