3RD THURSDAYS/Sparks Art Walk

3rd Thursday is back and we are excited to bring you all the best a night out has to offer! This includes good food, cold drinks, live entertainment, crafts, chef demos, movies on the big screen and all the art you can handle! Downtown Sparks is the place to be this and every 3rd Thursday of the month, all year round!

The Sparks Museum and Cultural Center, 39 North Downtown, and Sierra Arts Foundation along with the City of Sparks have created a downtown experience with art surrounding the Sparks Arts Walk: music, poetry reading, performances, art tours with food and kids activities. Every month, we invite you to come downtown to enjoy the museum, train and historical schoolhouse. Every month brings new items to explore.

DATE/TIME: 3rd Thursdays of Every Month, 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

City of Sparks Announces Sparks Art Walk Activities for October 21

Sparks, NV (Oct. 14, 2021) –The City of Sparks and 39 North Downtown will host 3rd Thursday and the Sparks Art Walk this Thursday, October 21, 2021, from 4 to 9 pm with family friendly activities, art-centered performances and a Dia de los Muertos inspired list of attractions.

More than 20 artists will be on hand to show their work, alongside exhibits at the Depot Gallery and various restaurants and bars taking part in the Sierra Arts Galleries at Work program. Guided Sparks Art Walk tours begin at 5:00 pm at Lillard Park.

Kids activities include a costume contest and free movie, “Coco,” hosted by Cordillera International Film Festival. Performances are spread out throughout Victorian Square on three stages.

Guided tours from 5-6:30 p.m. Tours leave at 5:00, 5:30, 6:00 and 6:30 p.m. and last about 30 minutes. Tours start in Lillard Park, next to the Depot Gallery. Look for our volunteers.

Dia de los Muertos: Group Exhibition
The Depot Gallery
To celebrate the cultural experience of the Dia de los Muertos holiday, The Depot Gallery is happy to host this group exhibition. Local artists creating in all mediums will be on hand to talk about their work. Featuring: Peter Rhode, Mike Bond, Ethel Mays, April Gratrix, Maria Dante and more. Exhibit ends on October 30.

Free Movie: Coco

Cordillera International Film Festival presents Coco, about aspiring musician Miguel, when confronted with his family’s ancestral ban on music, enters the Land of the Dead to find his great-great-grandfather, a legendary singer.

Costume Contest
It’s not too early to break out the costume. Prizes and bragging rights. Categories of Best Adult Costume, Best Kiddo Costume (12 and under), Best Family Costumes and Best (well-behaved) Dog Costume. Strut your stuff at the Amphitheatre at 6:45 for the judges.
