Artist Community Engagement Workshop
Includes information on how to apply City of Sparks RFP and access to Springboard Consultants to Develop work

February 8 and February 9, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Larry D. Johnson Center, 1100 11th Street, Sparks

An artists’ work requires ENGAGEMENT to make the impact. Learning how to ENGAGE with the public could be the game changer in an artistic career.

The City of Sparks with Sierra Arts are working together with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts to create a program to give artists tools for community engagement. This project includes a commission opportunity. The nationally acclaimed Springboard for Arts have been brought on board to consult our local artists in their innovative and ground breaking Ready Go Program.

Ready Go is a new resource from Springboard for the Arts that connects neighborhoods, non-profits, businesses and individuals to artist-created, mobile tools that are purpose-built to pique curiosity and prompt interaction. Ready Go functions as a mechanism (think Equipment Rental or Etsy) that allows artists to offer proven, existing tools for hire. In a literal sense of the word tool, we mean an object that is used to carry out a particular function. In this instance the function is to serve as a focal point that attracts people and then prompts conversation, participation and interaction.

Seating is limited: please RSVP for this FREE workshop at fburge@cityofsparks.us
