Yoga, Meditation and Fitness Classes Offered in Sparks

Take part in one of the following yoga/fitness classes offered this spring and summer through Sparks Parks and Recreation. Register online at sparksrec.com, email recinfo@cityofsparks.us or call (775) 353-2376.

SUNDAY YOGA
Get a total body workout that enhances strength, cardiovascular conditioning, balance, and flexibility. This class focuses on connecting breath with Yoga. These traditional and non-traditional techniques give the participant a fun experience that works the muscles and clears the mind of stress. Loose fitting clothes and Yoga mat required. Instructor is Jennifer Duvall.
WHO: Adults, 18 yrs. & Older

New! MINDFUL YOGA BASICS 
Serenity now! Instructor Lee Ann Maynard will teach you Yoga poses, breathing techniques and meditation practices to help increase strength, flexibility and concentration as well as reduce stress. All levels are welcome. Please bring a Yoga mat to class.

STRENGTH & CONDITIONING TRAINING
Bring yourself and some water and we’ll supply a fun workout. Classes are designed to develop core strength, flexibility, mobility, and overall strength throughout your body. The program includes initial body composition assessment and pictures to monitor progress. Classes are taught by Diana Nordquist, Owner of DL Fitness Reno and Certified Personal Trainer. 
WHO: Everyone 15 yrs. & Older
WHEN: Mondays – Thursdays
TIME: 4:30 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. (50 minute classes)
WHERE: Larry D. Johnson Community Center, 1200 12th Street
COST: 3 days/wk $144 / $120 Resident Discount

New! MINDFUL MEDITATION
Learn to be more present in life and accept moment by moment whatever may arise through this meditation course with a focus on breath. Instructor Dar Shawver, Certified Meditation Instructor and owner of Inhale/Exhale, will explore the key elements of correct posture to ensure a strong, stable, comfortable foundation for practice. Students will develop the skills needed to maintain a successful and rewarding home practice.

STROLLER FITNESS 

A fun workout for Moms, Dads, Grandmas and Grandpas and their stroller aged babies. Bring yourself and a stroller and we will supply the workout. Classes are designed to improve overall strength and cardiovascular endurance, increase mobility, and enhance core strength so that you can perform better in your everyday life. To participate you must be at least 6 weeks postpartum (8 weeks for cesarean section) and have received clearance from your physician. Classes are taught by Diana Nordquist, owner of DL Fitness Reno and a Certified Personal Trainer. 
WHO: Moms, Dads, Grandmas and Grandpas, Nannies and stroller aged children
