Sparks Annual Hometowne Christmas Parade

Join us in celebrating “A Season of Giving!” The Sparks Hometowne Christmas Parade inspires us all to spread the Christmas spirit by helping those less fortunate this holiday season. Unite with us on Victorian Square December 3, 2016 from 1:00P to 3:00P with Mayor Geno Martini, friends from your community, and the most giving of them all, Santa Claus.

Tree Lighting Ceremony

Friday December 2, 2016 6:30P-7:00P
Kick off “A Season of Giving” with friends, family, and Mayor Martini as he flips the switch to light our living Christmas tree in Downtown Sparks! The event includes live music and free treats like hot chocolate for the young and young at heart.

Hometowne Christmas Celebration

Saturday, December 3, 2016 11:00A-3:00P
Come down early to get a good spot, or avoid the parking and winter weather by carpooling, taking the bus, or rideshares, just get there! The parade begins at 1:00P but the festivities begin at 11am. Make sure to get a picture with Santa, and check out the Community Faire to learn how you can celebrate“A Season of Giving” through our local non-profits.

Parade Applications: The parade is sold out. If you would like to participate in the parade in 2017, please follow our Facebook feed or sign up for email reminders. We begin taking applications in July.

We are not accepting any applications for vendor booths.

The Ugly Sweater Run: Scheel’s 2-mile fun run,will be held at 10:00am. Registration available at Scheels Customer Service. The fee is $20 or New Toy Donation – 100% of the proceeds will benefit Toys for Tots.

Photos with Santa: Have your photo taken with Santa in the Train Depot building at Pyramid and Victorian across from the Museum from 10AM – 12:30PM and after the parade from 3:00 – 4:00 PM. Boys & Girls Club accept either $1 or canned foods for a commemorative photo with Santa.

Hometowne Community Faire: Located in front of the old Silver Club, the faire has booths from local non-profits with information, giveaways and fun activities for kids.

The Sparks Museum & Cultural Center:  “Parks: Past/Present Perspectives” from the Truckee Meadow Parks Foundation on display in the upstairs gallery. The exhibit contains 22 historical and recreated photographs of parks in the Truckee Meadows from personal, public, and private collections.

Train display and historic Glendale schoolhouse: The downtown historical buildings will be open and free to the public for tours beginning at 10am until the parade begins.
