Spring Events in Sparks
Sparks, NV – The looooong winter is close to over. Get outside and enjoy the flowers and friends. Here are some great (many new ones) events for the Month of May!
This week is Bike to Work Week. It’s not all about commuting, it is all about bikes. Log your miles, post photos, win prizes and find all the fun activities here.
NEW! Last Fridays in Downtown Sparks – May 26, Victorian Square, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Time to revisit your favorite hometown downtown – Victorian Square – it’s where history meets hashtags. Open late, free and staffed with people ready to help you explore:
- Museum and Gallery: See the latest art show upstairs in the Cultural Center. Explore Sparks’ history downstairs with artifacts and displays.
- Historic Schoolhouse: The school marm is holding class from the past in the nationally registered historic Glendale Schoolhouse, newly restored for its 150th birthday.
- Train: The conductor leads a tour through the steam locomotive, a cupola caboose and a Pullman executive car.
Enjoy bands at the Great Basin Stage at 7:30 p.m. Featured performer: Arnold Mitchem
To cap off the evening: Chill out with a FREE family friendly movie in the outdoor amphitheater. Popcorn and ice cream sandwiches for sale. Bring your blanket and chair … might as well bring the family too. Movie Featured: Napoleon Dynamite. Movie starts at dusk.

Walk to Defeat ALS – May 20, Sparks Marina, 8:30 a.m. check-in (walk begins at 10 a.m.)
The Walk to Defeat ALS® is an opportunity to bring hope to people living with ALS and to help raise money for a cure.
NEW! Stars and Stripes Honor March – May 29, Sparks Marina, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
A 5K walk to honor Veterans and raise funds and awareness for the Nevada Veterans Memorial Plaza. Cost is $25.
