Localized Street Flooding

For Immediate Release
Contact: Jim Rundle, 775.750.1691, jrundle@cityofsparks.us

Sparks, NV – Due to high flow in the North Truckee Drain and continued precipitation streets are experiencing localized flooding in the area of Springland Drive south of Shadow Lane, North Truckee Lane, and Spanish Springs Road to Howard Drive.

The City has established a flood preparedness hotline for general flood information at 775-353-5555 for the next 24-hour period.  The public can also dial 211 for regional flood information.

It is recommended motorists avoid these intersections if possible.

Official Hashtag, Media and the public are encouraged to ask questions and share information on social media by using the hashtag #NVFlood17

When Flooded, Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

Avoid walking or driving through flood waters.

Just 6 inches of moving water can knock you down, and 2 feet of water can sweep your vehicle away.

If floodwaters rise around your car but the water is not moving, abandon the car and move to higher ground. Do not leave the car and enter moving water.
