City of Sparks to Hold Arbor Day Tree Planting at Greenbrae Elementary School
Sparks, NV – The City of Sparks will celebrate Arbor Day on Friday, April 28 at 10:30 a.m., with a tree planting at Greenbrae Elementary School, 1840 4th Street. The school’s 4th grade students will take part in the planting ceremony which honors the nation’s 145th anniversary of this special tree-planting day. The ceremony also marks the City’s 23rd year as a Tree City USA community.
Arbor Day was first held in Nebraska on April 10, 1872 in celebration of the planting of one million trees in the state. The annual observance was created to promote better communities worldwide by supporting efforts to protect trees and woodlands. Arbor Day serves to encourage citizens to plant trees for the well-being of this and future generations.
