City of Sparks Park Naming Committee to Consider Names for New Parks and Amphitheater

Sparks, NV – The City of Sparks Parks and Recreation Department is in the process of developing two new neighborhood parks. Both park sites are located in the Foothills at Wingfield, one on Truth Drive and the other on Black Hills Drive. Both parks are in the early stages of design and the City of Sparks is interested in obtaining ideas from the community on naming each site.

Additionally, with the community’s input, new names will be considered for the amphitheater located in Victorian Square.

Park naming forms must be received by the Recreation Office no later than Wednesday, September 19. The required form and park naming policies are available online at www.sparksrec.com and at the Recreation Office located at 98 Richards Way. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

The City’s Park Naming Committee, comprised of three Parks and Recreation Commissioners, one staff person and two appointed citizens, will consider potential names at a meeting scheduled for Tuesday, September 25 at 4:00 p.m. in the Pyramid Room at the Recreation Office. The public is welcome to provide testimony on all potential names at this meeting.
