Sparks, NV-City of Sparks employees have light-heartedly been challenged to “can” Mayor Geno Martini this holiday season.
City Manager Steve Driscoll and his wife Carol bought 474 items of nonperishable food to represent each City of Sparks employee and challenged employees to bring in at least one food item to help those in need in the community. All items collected will be donated to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.
“Sparks is a city that gives back,” said Mayor Geno Martini. “I’m thrilled that our City Manager has issued this fun challenge to our employees and that my desk will be piled high with donated food. We want to provide as much food as we possibly can to those in need.”
The community can also get involved by dropping off nonperishable food items December 1-14 in bins provided by the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. Bins will be at these locations:
Sparks City Hall, 431 Prater Way
Sparks Police Department, 1701 E. Prater Way
Sparks Fire Station 1, 1605 Victorian Ave.
Parks and Recreation Office, 98 Richards Way
A Toys for Tots bin will also be at Sparks City Hall for those wishing to donate an unwrapped toy.
