Swing your club for a good cause at the Sparks Mayor’s Cup Golf Tournament, happening October 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Resort at Red Hawk on The Lakes Course. The entry fee is $100 per player. Hole sponsorships with signage are also available for $100 each.

Now in its 13th year, the Mayor's Cup features a four-person scramble format and plenty of fun with hole-in-one prizes and contests for closest to the hole and longest drive. Lunch and awards will follow play. Proceeds from this annual event benefit at-risk youth in the community who have limited access to recreational programs due to financial hardships.

This year marks the 19th annual youth fastpitch Triple Crown World Series. In 2014, 211 teams participated in the 16U/18U World Series-San Diego, CA. We anticipate 140 teams in the 2015 World Series- Sparks & Reno, NV. Teams participating in the World Series come form almost every state West of Colorado.

The 2015 girls fast pitch tournament marks the fourth year of the TC/USA Nationals, with 18u and 16u title games broadcast on CBS Sports Network. The communities of Sparks, Reno and Tahoe are honored and excited to host this Gold Level National event for the second time showcasing 120 teams.

The TC/USA Nationals debuted in 2012 in grand style with 60 teams. New York City played host to the inaugural gathering of the nation's top fastpitch teams (based on the TC National Softball Rankings).

In 2013, 120 teams battled for the TCS National Championship in Sparks/Reno/Tahoe. In 2014, the Georgia towns of Cumming, Alpharetta and Gainesville near Atlanta hosted the TC/USA Nationals and welcomed 186 teams.

SHORIN–RYU KARATE Karate originated on the island of Okinawa, Japan. Shorin-Ryu is one of the original styles of Karate with roots that date back several hundred years. Sparks, NV- Softball enthusiasts are invited to brave the elements and take part in the City of Sparks 17th annual Deep Freeze Softball League. Registration will be held through December 20 at the Alf Sorensen Community Center, 1400 Baring Blvd. The 8-week season will take place on Wednesday evenings, January 7 - February 25, 2015 at the Golden Eagle Regional Park sports complex - in all weather conditions. Individual shirts will be awarded to first place of each division along with the coveted ice cube trophy. The cost is $400 per team. Players must be 18 years of age.

Registration for the City of Sparks Spring Softball Leagues has been extended to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 9. Men and women, age 18 and older are encouraged to play. There are opportunities for beginners on up to tournament players and seniors.  The comprehensive program is one of the largest per capita softball programs in the country, offering the following leagues:

Men's 2-night per week (16 games), cost:  $725

Men's 1-night per week (10 games), cost:  $575

Men's 35+ (10 games), cost: $575

Women's (10 games), cost: $575

Coed (10 games), cost: $575

Senior Softball 50+, 60+, 65+, 70+, 75+ and Women's 50+, cost:  $400  

An additional late fee of $35 will be applied. 

League play will take place Monday through Friday, April 15 to June 28 at the Golden Eagle Regional Park and Shadow Mountain sports complexes.

Register at the Alf Sorensen Community Center, 1400 Baring Blvd.  Hours of operation are Monday and Wednesday, 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The facility is closed on Friday.
